John Pearce has been at the forefront of the community enterprise sector in the UK since the early 1980s. He is author of Social Enterprise in Anytown (2002) and At the Heart of the Community Economy - Community enterprise in a changing world (1993).

In this transcript of a speech made at the launch of the Wales-Ireland Social Economy Link (WISElink) in Dublin on 6th December 2005 he outlines a number of social economy principles and action points for both governments and social enterprise.
